The Rosemount Early Head Start Story
l
"Working with Louis Torelli and Chuck Durrett offers a systematic approach to designing your 'Spaces for Children.' From the time the process begins you can see the changes. The space transforms to a landscape for learning for both staff and chidren. Staff can create new ways to use their space while children play and learn in a developmentally appropriate environment.

The manual, Landscapes for Learning, serves as an ongoing staff development tool. As new staff join our team it offers them an opportunity to read about the philosophy of the space design process including the selection of developmentally appropriate equipment.

The items we purchased complement our space design in offering quality developmentally appropriate furnishings that offer a range of activities for our children. My favorite items are the dowel climber and loft. Together they offer the perfect space for our children to practice skills in all areas. Another favorite is the book pocket. I love the versatility it offers in displaying books and other items.

As a program, we have all benefited from working with Louis Torelli. Although our building offered many challenges in the implementation of our space design, Louis was there to encourage us along the way. It truly was a team effort that gave us the tools we needed toward implementing a quality childcare program."
